Matthew Weicholz has been a member of the American Heritage Varsity Ice Hockey Team since his freshman year. Matthew is an accomplished player and can consistently be counted upon to provide maximum effort to the team. He exemplifies the player characteristics most valued by his coaches in his eagerness to perform in whatever position the team needs. He is a natural defenseman, but has successfully filled in as a center and on the wings when needed. He provides the same level of leadership, skill and sportsmanship whether asked to skate on the first line or on the third line. His leadership and respect among players has earned him the Alternate Captain position in both his Junior and Senior years with the team. Matthew Weicholz has earned recognition as the American Heritage Hobey Baker High School Character Award winner.
