John is a two-year varsity member. He does not win or get major accolades by local news media and organizations, but still comes to the rink and to school every day and give 110% effort in everything he does. John has mainly been a 3rd/4th line player in our program, but his contributions to the team are vital in the role that he has fully accepted the last two seasons. He grinds out every shift, plays hard every day, and has found a niche for himself on the team as a faceoff specialist and strong penalty killer. More importantly, John does get down on himself or his teammates. He isn’t selfish about ice time and complain that he should play more. He comes to practice and games throughout the season with a positive attitude and mindset, and does everything he can to make himself and his teammates better, both on and off the ice, for the next tilt on the schedule. John’s approach and attitude is something a coach could only dream of instilling in each and every one of the players that they get to coach throughout their career behind the bench. His positive character will carry John far in life, well beyond the friendly confines of the rink and into his adult and professional chapters of his life.
