The Hobey Baker award is an award that honors a senior player who exemplifies character, excellence, love of the game and sportsmanship. The Terriers 2021-2022 Hobey Baker Award recipient is Connor Konopka. Connor brings his love of hockey to every practice and game. He continually displays integrity on and off the ice for the three years I have coached him. It’s no coincidence that his team selected him as a team captain this year.

Connor truly has displayed resilience and the ability to overcome adversity over the last three years. As a sophomore he watched most varsity games outside the glass keeping stats for the his teammates. Connor never stopped working hard and getting better everyday. Maturing this year into a first line, forward, senior captain.

Connor has been strongly committed to developing the Terriers Hockey program. He coordinated ice time for the players to skate off-season and played with his teammates in the spring and fall leagues. He is extremely coachable as a player, and always selflessly wanting what’s best for the team. As a captain, Connor and I have had many honest conversations about his concern for individual players and how we can make the team stronger. His kindness and empathy will take him far beyond the ice. His impact on the team is immeasurable and we can’t think of a more deserving player of the prestigious Hobey Baker Award.
