Allie VanStelten
2022 | Minnesota | GIRLS
Benilde-St. Margaret’s School | Red Knights | GIRLS
This year’s recipient has characteristics that parallel Hobey Baker. She exhibits an unwavering work ethic that provided an example for her teammates and allowed her to be consistent in her game play. Her work ethic and her competitiveness helped her develop habits that changed her physical play, as well as shaped her mental toughness. This combined with her ability to take criticism and construct it into a positive, changed her level of skill and knowledge of hockey and allowed us to see incredible growth in her throughout the season. Her selfless nature and playing truly for the “love of the gameâ€_x009d_ rather than accolades, provided an example and reminder to all of us that it’s about the learning, growth, process, and team experience. She understands for the team and being selfless. She is the type of athlete that makes people stay in coaching. She’s a leader. She’s a supporter. She makes the most of everything she has and everything she gets. She finds the positive and is positive. She exudes confidence. She was the glue that held us together. She’s enthusiastic. She values academic excellence. She mentored our young goalies in a way that makes us know they will do the same in the future. She is as close to Hobey Baker as one can be. She is Allie VanStelten.
