Gianna came to our team having never played hockey. Her skating skills were rough and undeveloped. Yet, her love for the game and dedication to both her teammates and to the sport allowed her to become a valued player. She understands both her abilities and her limitations and uses this knowledge to give her team maximum effort. Gianna is an outstanding example that a player does not need to be the best skater on the team to be one of the most valuable players on the team, because in hockey as in life, it is a team effort that leads to success. Her character is an example to teammates and others of what a student-athlete can accomplish.
