I’ve had the pleasure to work with Zachary for the past three years on and off the ice. I first met Zachary in the classroom, where we talked a little hockey but mostly worked on school assignments. His care for school work and getting a good education transferred to the ice almost immediately once he joined our team his sophomore year. Since then, he has grown into a great captain who leads by example and brings guys along with him. His strong character shows through his effort on the ice, his determination in the classroom, and his service to youth hockey players. Not only does Zachary love the game but he loves being a part of something bigger than himself. He’s always working to get better and bettering those around him, and I’m honored to have been able to coach him for the past three seasons. Zachary is the definition of a player who should receive the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
