Nate Beals was selected because he fits the description of the Hobey Baker Memorial Trophy to a T. Nate started off his 2 year career at Lincoln High School having to sit out the first 8 games as he was a transfer from a school that no longer had a hockey program. He was probably unjustly made to sit those games but he was never bitter, always had a smile on his face, and continued to work hard in practice even though he had no chance of playing in those games. He was a team player from the very beginning and wanted to always do what was best for the team! Nate always exuded great character on and off the ice with quiet leadership and leading by example. These are some of the reasons why Nate Beals is the perfect candidate for this prestigious award!
