Madison Ryszewski
2019 | Michigan | GIRLS
Grosse Pointe South Girls Varsity Hockey | Blue Devils | GIRLS
Madison has been playing hockey for more than 10 years. Over the last year Madison has been an outstanding captain and player for our team. She is organized, compassionate, and tough when she needs to be. She is a true captain, who leads by example both on and off the ice. Madison expects and demands the best from herself and her teammates. She encourages her teammates through good times and bad and quickly diffuses division in the team. Madison is passionate about the game of hockey, and works hard all year to prepare for hockey season. She encourages her teammates to do the same; often times organizing drop in experiences and pre-season conditioning to prepare the team for the rigorous season. Madison is the first person in the locker room and generally the last person out of the locker room. On the ice Madison is by far the strongest skater and has an ultimate calm demeanor. Her calm demeanor is contagious and can calm the team down in an instant. She views the ice and can see a play before it happens, and makes handling the puck look easy. Madison has the most wicked slap shot on the team and because of this leads the defensive end of the team in both goals and assists. It is for all these reasons and more that I feel Madison Ryszewski deserves the Hobey Baker Award.
