Marriotts Ridge HS Ice Hockey Team | Mustangs | COED

I am writing with the utmost confidence to recommend Alex for the Hobey Baker Award. I have had the honor of coaching Alex on the Marriotts Ridge Ice Hockey team for the past four years and have come to know and respect him as a player and young man. I can attest to his dedication as a team leader, with his advancement in the game of ice hockey. Alex is a team leader. Most importantly he does this by example. Alex is our silent leader as our goalie. He has worked extremely hard at honing his skills with hours of extra one on one coaching. Alex has NEVER missed a game for all four years, and has been our ONLY goalie for the last two years. He has lead us to two National Championship Tournaments. He epitomizes an unselfish leader. Alex puts the team’s accomplishments above his personal accomplishments.

Alex is an excellent student of the game, often bringing insightful questions to me after practices and/or games. He is always prompt and insightful at practice and games, and often stays late to clean up the locker-room, then to meet with the coaches and complete the game evaluation report. He is the most respectful player that I have coached in 20 years. I can also attest to his academic strength. He currently holds a 4.0 (unweighted) with a 4.65 (weighted – AP & Honors Classes).
