Jack is a a four year senior who joined our program the same year I joined the program as an assistant coach. His sophomore year I took over as head coach and this year he was named senior captain. If I would have been asked 3 years ago if Jack would be the recipient of the Hobey Baker award I probably would have said no. But this year It is without question and there is no better nominee for this award. From where Jack was as a hockey player in his earlier years to the leader he has become this year has been a pleasure to watch as a coach. When I think about growth as a player and a leader for a hockey team, I think about Jack, comparing how far he has come since his freshman year. I am often times stopped by parents who tell me that they love when there kid comes home and talk about what a great leader Jack is not just on the ice but off the ice in the locker room, during practice, etc. He keeps the younger players motivated and eager to show up to the rink everyday, he is a positive role model and leader, he respects each and every player on the team and is responsible for creating such a positive culture for the team. In my fourth year of coaching Jack has been the best captain, role model and leader I have had the privilege of coaching.
