Henry was a captain of this year’s varsity hockey team. Henry is a leader on and off the ice. The team went through a coaching change last spring and was without a coach until September of this year. During this time Henry stepped up with the other two captains and took control of the program. Henry organized summer work outs, lead on ice practices and kept the program moving in a positive direction. Henry did an incredible job keeping each boy in the program involved when things could have came off the rails. Once I took over I learned very quickly how much Henry cared about the game and this team. He is a student of the game who seems to have a road map on each team we play based on the research he has put in about our upcoming opponents. Henry demands nothing but the best out of each of his teammates, but does so in a way without bringing down each player’s self esteem and giving them the confidence they need to perform at their best. Henry is a fierce competitor that is on our first line, power play and penalty kill. He is always willing to take advice on how to make his game better and improve his skills. Outside of the rink, Henry is also a leader in the classroom and at school. He is taking one of the hardest schedules among anyone in his class that includes 4 AP courses. He brings the same tireless work ethic on the ice to the classroom and is a true leader in the school that sets an example for the rest of the boys.
