Ryan Haight is a talented student athlete that harbors the unique combination of a kind spirit coupled with a fiercely competitive edge. For the past three years, I have had the privilege of coaching Ryan on the varsity ice hockey team. I have witnessed the transformation of a quiet and reserved adolescent into a fierce and dynamic leader. He was named captain of the varsity ice hockey team in his senior season because of his leadership on and off the ice and the respect he commands from his peers. His presence in the locker room, on the bench during games, and on the ice during practices and games is unprecedented. Ryan’s teammates look to him for direction and rally around his discipline and competiveness that is required to compete and win at the varsity level. Ryan also is actively involved with St. Anthony’s and has an impressive 93.97 grade point average. His future academic plans include attending the University of Maryland where I am sure he will flourish.
