Ryan Lubker
2018 | North Carolina | BOYS
Southern High School | Southern | BOYS
I was fortunate to have coached Ryan and I got to know Ryan quite well and can thoroughly vouch for his character and abilities, both as an athlete and as a person. Ryan was a pleasure to work with – his personality is affable; his attitude is positive, and his work ethic is commendable.
Prior to the start of our season, I had the opportunity to work with Ryan in individual development sessions. He was always prompt and prepared, and made the extra effort during and after the sessions to improve his skills and put his learning into action to drive results.
As a new member to the team, Ryan joined a seasoned group and seamlessly assimilated himself with his new teammates and coaches. As he built his skills, he also built a high level of communication and trust with his teammates. Whether it was a small team task, focus on academics, or a serious challenge to overcome, Ryan’s approach was one of balance and humility combined with a strong sense of purpose to achieve the goal.
Ryan exhibited the unique ability to get along with all facets and personalities on our team. He easily disarmed players when a situation got heated on the ice and would swiftly come to the aid of any player needing assistance or his support. Ryan lead by example. He tirelessly demonstrated his commitment on the ice at every practice and at every game.
Although Ryan carried a heavy academic and extracurricular workload, he was able to meet the commitments of our travel hockey season without issue.
Ryan has an underlying sense of humor that I thoroughly enjoyed over the course of the season. He played with his emotions in check, focusing on his game play and the task at hand. He was fiercely loyal to his teammates, and respectful to the coaching staff, parents and game officials.
I firmly believe that Ryan will be an asset to any college program he chooses to be a part of. Without question he will determine what is needed to contribute to the group or team to make it successful and work with great tenacity to see that the job gets done. His desire to succeed and celebrate in the success of his teammates is his greatest asset.
Ryan is the son of Sandy Lubker and attends Myers Park High School where he has a 4.6 GPA. He is looking to attend college in the fall and has been accepted at several schools.
