Please accept this letter of reference for Joey Davidson in attesting to his personal character and dedication to excellence in all facets that I have come to know him. I have been Joey’s coach and mentor in hockey for the past two hockey seasons, 2016-17 and 2017-18.

I have witnessed Joey’s dedication to sports and education through my interactions with him during his time as my student athlete. His athletic ability is world class and his dedication to his team and teammates is unmatched. His attendance during a long season and at times participating in multiple sports is near 100% and he is never tardy. His work ethic is always present and he is never in need of discipline or encouragement to go full steam.

I was party to his dedication to education as well in 2016-2017 as he enlisted me and the NC Force Youth hockey program to assist in his school project. Joey was relentless in his pursuit of material for his project and making sure that all that was needed was in on time and complete. The project was magnificent and reflected his dedication to excellence. Joey has a weight 5.0 Average in Honors his Senior year and has been accepted into the NC State Engineering program.

In 2017-18 Joey Davidson will be the first time recipient for the local version of the Hobey Baker award, a local award modeled after the NCAA award of the same name awarded to the top NCAA Division I hockey player, with the added criteria of academics and community involvement. Joey will be the first nominee from the NC Force program.

I have always been impressed with Joey’s confidence and demeanor. As a hockey player I hear very few words from him on the bench or in the dressing room. Joey is calm and quiet at all times. However, beneath the calm is an intense desire to compete and while he sits still on the bench in between shifts he is almost always on task on the ice.

Joey has been a pleasure to coach for these past two years and I am sure that whatever he chooses to do in the future he will do it quietly, calmly and with excellence,
