Team leadership characteristic:
Michael’s time as a Raider has been spent in various leadership roles to support the team. He has spent a few years as captain and co-captain of the team, working with his fellow players to improve individual and cooperative skills. During summer break, he has helped the JV team and other players prepare for the high school team. Michael works hard to recruit more players for the Atholton team, encouraging goal-setting and unified efforts in competition.
Hockey skills:
Michael has played 12 years of ice hockey concurrently with his club and high school. As a varsity member of the Atholton team for all four years of high school, Michael has played different positions throughout the year depending upon where he was needed. As a junior, Michael and his teammates had an exciting Maryland State High School playoff run which ended on semifinal loss to eventual State Champion Churchill High School. One of his other achievements was his club hockey affiliation was winning Maryland AA 14U Hockey Maryland State Champion in 2015 leading him to Tier 2 USA Hockey National Championship at Salt Lake City, Utah.
Work ethic:
Currently, he is in National Technical Honors Society serving as Vice President and John Hopkins University APL Aspire Program Intern. Hockey has been an important part of his life for many years, and he looks forward to playing in college as well. Michael relates his ice hockey experience with his life. All the mentors (Coaches, Teachers), helping him to achieve his goals. He realized that nothing in life is that easy and how much effort you put in will determine your outcome. Michael hopes to pursue his studies in Aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland, Virginia Tech, or Penn State.
