Recommendation for John (Jack) Herlihy

To Whom It May Concern,

I have known Jack for 3 plus years as a student and an athlete. I feel confident in recommending him for post-secondary education. As a freshman in my Honors Algebra 1 course, Jack demonstrated outstanding academic work. Jack’s growth potential within the classroom, as well as out, is remarkable. He shows such a tremendous amount of interest in his work.

Jack is an individual that I find to be of high character. He is a trustworthy and very honorable young man who does his work with a great degree of enthusiasm. He has been a member of our National Honors Society for the past two years. Jack has a positive work ethic. He is passionate in his work and does not like to see a task unfinished.

Jack has a tremendous drive for success…but not only in the classroom. He is also a varsity athlete…playing for both our Varsity Hockey and Baseball teams. Whether at the ice rink, on the diamond, or in the classroom, Jack is determined to succeed. He has worked vigorously at all he has attempted.

At the ice rink, he is the workhorse of the varsity hockey team. His hard work during practices and games does not go unnoticed by the coaching staff or his teammates. He was recently elected Captain for the 2017-2018 Hockey season.

In the classroom, he is the enthusiastic pupil who leads by example. His positive spirit is an example for both students and educators to follow.

Jack has set high goals for himself. I feel as though Jack is very capable of reaching those goals and would be an excellent candidate for the Hobey Baker Character Award
