The stage is set for the annual Friday Night at the Frozen Four featuring the announcement of the 2016 recipient of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, honoring college hockey’s top player. The initial field of ten finalists has been narrowed to three Hobey Hat Trick finalists: Kyle Connor of Michigan, Thatcher Demko of Boston College and Jimmy Vesey of Harvard.
This year’s Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced Friday, April 8, 2016 from the historic Tampa Theatre in Tampa, Flor., during the NCAA Frozen Four. The 36th annual announcement will be televised live on the NHL Network at 6 p.m. ET, and streamed on the Hobey website, https://www.hobeybaker.com/stream.
Additional events tied in with the Hobey announcement include: the annual NCAA autograph signing featuring the two teams in the national final, along with the three Hobey finalists, presentation of the Hockey Humanitarian Award and announcement of the AHCA All American teams.
The Hobey program will include special recognition for General Mark A. Milley, Chief of Staff of the United States Army, as he will be honored by the American Hockey Coaches Association with the Lou Lamoriello Award. General Milley was a former Princeton University hockey player. Hobey Baker was also a military man following his playing career at Princeton. He joined the U.S. Army and was a member of their Flying Corp during World War I. Baker, a decorated war hero, died while testing a repaired aircraft following the Armistice.

Tampa Theatre is located at 711 North Franklin Street in Tampa, Flor.
