The entire #HobeyBaker family is saddened to learn of Tom’s untimely passing. Our thoughts are with Tom’s wife Heather and their four children. Tom battled lung cancer for the past two years while still enjoying his job as assistant General Manager of the Minnesota Wild. Kurvers was the fourth recipient of the Hobey Baker Award while manning the blue line for the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. In his Hobey Baker season of 1984, Duluth won the WCHA regular season title and lost in the NCAA championship game in a classic four overtime affair vs Bowling Green University. Tom went on to play in the NHL for 11 seasons winning a Stanley Cup with the team that drafted him, the Montreal Canadiens in 1986. He also played for Buffalo, New Jersey, Toronto, Vancouver, New York Islanders and Anaheim. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kurvers family. Rest in peace, Tom.
