Minnesota State University will host a banner ceremony to recognize 2022 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner Dryden McKay on Dec. 15, 2022.

The ceremony will take place as the Mavericks host Bemidji State at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato, with the game scheduled for a 7:07 p.m., CT start. As part of the celebration, McKay will be in attendance at the game.

Minnesota State has announced that as part of the festivities it will distribute replica banners to the first 1,000 fans at Thursday’s game.  The Hobey Baker Award trophy will be on display in the main level concourse at Friday’s game through the end of the second intermission.

Dryden McKay from Downers Grove, Ill., was an All-American and Hobey top ten finalist for three straight years, a two-time Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalist, and 2022 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner. He also was a Mike Richter Award finalist for three straight seasons. He helped lead the Mavericks to two consecutive Frozen Four appearances, and in addition was also named the CCHA Player of the Year, Goalie of the Year, and First Team all-conference. He played in all but 10 games in his four years at Minnesota State. McKay established two NCAA records in 2022-23 – most wins in a season with 38 and most career shutouts with 34, breaking the record of 26 formerly held by 2001 Hobey Baker winner Ryan Miller. McKay currently plays for the Newfoundland Growlers in the ECHL, an affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
