The Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation is very pleased to announce a major partnership with BioSteel Sports Nutrition. BioSteel will become the presenting sponsor of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award presented annually to the top men’s college hockey player in the nation. The agreement follows the announcement of BioSteel becoming the Official Hydration partner of the NHL and NHLPA and is part of a larger package with the league and Players’ Association in the branding of their sports hydration products.

The BioSteel brand will be integrated into a variety of Hobey Baker Award components including the annual Hobey Baker Award presentation ceremony, the Vote for Hobey online fan voting, the annual presentation of the Legend of College Hockey, recognizing the great contributions to the college game and national sponsorship of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award, honoring outstanding student-athletes in boys and girls high school hockey across the nation. BioSteel brand integration will also be woven into the annual golf outing/banquet and into social media accounts.

BioSteel sports hydration drinks were created to provide a clean and healthy hydration option to athletes. The brand is committed to using premium ingredients, maintaining product transparency, and delivering essential nutrients needed to support physical activity. Each electrolyte-packed sports drink comes in an eco-friendly 16.7 fl oz Tetra Pak, and the range of flavors includes Blue Raspberry, Mixed Berry, Peach Mango, Rainbow Twist and White Freeze to keep both athletes and health-conscious consumers hydrated throughout the day.

Hobey Baker notes: The annual Hobey Baker golf outing/banquet will be held August 11, 2022 at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, MN. Honored this year will be Hobey Baker 2022 winner Dryden McKay of Minnesota State University and this year’s Legend of College Hockey, Gino Gasparini from the University of North Dakota.

Congratulations to 2019 Hobey Baker winner Cale Makar and his Colorado Avalanche® on their Stanley Cup® triumph. Makar becomes the first player ever to win the Hobey, Stanley Cup®, Conn Smythe Trophy (Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP), the Norris Trophy (NHL’s best defenseman) and the Calder Trophy (NHL® Rookie of the Year 2020) – and he’s still only 23 years old!
